March 19, 2012. Government Warning Issued for Guatemala

The following is a Message for U.S. citizens regarding a recent outbreak of H1N1 flu. Please share the following information with any other U.S. citizens you know, as soon as possible.

This message is being issued to alert U.S. citizens residing and traveling in Guatemala to recent cases of Influenza A (H1N1) flu. The U.S. Embassy recommends that the following precautions be taken: cover your mouth and nose when coughing, avoid shaking hands and use sanitary towelettes. If you experience fever, headaches and runny nose and have other concerns please see a doctor. Do not give aspirin to children with flu symptoms.

The U.S. Embassy will continue to monitor this situation and will issue updated messages.
