June 30, 2010. Swine flu alert lifted in Mexico after 14 months

SOURCE:Altegrity Risk International

Mexico lifted the alert for swine flu on June 29th, officially ending a 14 month-long health emergency in the country. Mexico's Secretary of Health reported in October 2009 that 90% of influenza cases in the country were swine flu; however, this dropped to 10% by May 2010. The Mexican government will continue to monitor flu cases, even with the lifting of the alert, which allowed for officials to accelerate purchases of medicine to confront the outbreak.
