August 31, 2009. United Arab Emirates Reports 2nd Swine Flu Death

A 30-year-old Arab national contracted swine flu and died on August 29th, making her the second victim from the swine flu virus to die in the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, parents kept their children out of schools amid concerns of a virulent outbreak on August 30th, the first day of the new term. Attendance was at least 60% lower than in previous years, according to education officials, who claim that the H1N1 virus is to blame.
