June 5, 2009. Government Warning Issued for Ukraine

On 4 June 2009 the U.S. Embassy in Kiev issued the following Warden Message: "This Warden Message alerts U.S. citizens to the latest information regarding human cases of 2009-H1N1 Influenza, sometimes referred to as swine flu."
"The Ministry of Health has confirmed to the Embassy that an individual has been hospitalized in Kyiv due to suspected 2009-H1N1 Influenza infection. Local health authorities are waiting for official confirmation of the diagnosis, which could take several weeks to receive. The Embassy has contacted the U.S. citizens who were in proximity to this individual on the flight from New York, none of whom have reported any flu-like symptoms."
