May 11, 2009. Two More People Die from Swine Flu

As of 11 May 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 4,694 cases of the H1N1 swine flu virus in 30 countries. Two more people have died from swine flu-related complications -- including one in the United States and one in Costa Rica -- bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to 48. In Mexico, kindergartens and primary schools reopened in most states on 11 May 2009. The states of Jalisco, Hidalgo, Guerrero, San Luis Potosi, Chiapas and Zacatecas have postponed the reopening of schools until 18 May due to new cases of swine flu. Michoacán state will resume classes on 12 May. The United States, Canada and the European Union have not lifted advisories against non-essential travel to Mexico.
