A magnitude-7.1 earthquake struck off the Solomon Islands on February 8th, disrupting relief efforts after an 8.0-magnitude earthquake sparked a deadly tsunami, reports indicated. The February 8th earthquake, however, sparked no significant tsunamis. This quake was the latest tsunami to strike after the deadly February 6th earthquake. An earlier aftershock damaged roads in Lata, a town on the Santa Cruz island. At least 13 people were thought to have died in the February 6th tsunami. Thousands of people were left homeless and dependent on relief efforts.
