November 12, 2012. Earthquake rocks center, at least 12 dead in Myanmar

A strong, 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck on November 11th some 113km (70 miles) north of the second-largest city of Mandalay, at a depth of 10km (six miles), the US Geological Survey said. At least 12 people feared dead and dozens more injured. A bridge under construction collapsed in Shwebo, close to the epicenter, throwing workers into the river. In the early hours of November 12th a second quake, of 5.6 magnitude, struck the same region. In Mandalay, terrified residents on November 11th ran out of their homes for safety, fearing more tremors.
