SOURCE:Kroll

Several thousand protesters flooded the streets of Port-au-Prince on September 30th to protest the high cost of living and alleged corruption under President Michel Martelly, a U.S. news source reported on October 1st. Demonstrators complained that nothing had changed under the new president, a former music star elected to office following the 2010 earthquake that devastated the already struggling nation. The most recent protest followed several weeks of mostly peaceful demonstrations across Haiti's countryside, and further protests were planned for October 2012.
