A magnitude-6.6 earthquake struck China's far-western frontier on the morning of June 30th, shaking buildings and cutting off electricity to remote mountainous areas of the region, injuring at least 34 people. Chinese state-controlled media said that the earthquake triggered landslides, one of which struck a national highway, trapping some 120 people.
