Several aftershocks were felt in the hours following the initial quake. A moderate aftershock measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Aceh province, according to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency. The tremor was centered at 336km (210 miles) southwest of Simeulue regency.
