The death toll from an earthquake in eastern Turkey reached 461 on October 26th, with the government agreeing to offers of aid from foreign countries to cope with the disaster, reports indicated. While Ankara initially declined foreign help, officials said that there was an urgent need for accommodation after more than 2,000 buildings were destroyed. Thousands of refugees were thus left exposed to the elements as temperatures plummeted. Israel will be among the first to send aid, including mobile homes to be airlifted to the affected area.
