SOURCE:Altegrity Risk International

The death toll from an earthquake in eastern Turkey rose to 366 people as rescue workers continued to find survivors trapped beneath the rubble, reports indicated on October 25th. At least 1,300 others were injured in the October 23rd disaster. Thousands of homeless people in the cities of Van and Ercis slept in tents or outside for a second night. More than 2,000 homes collapsed as a result of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake. Opposition politicians decried alleged mismanagement of the crisis on the part of the government, with people queuing for basic supplies in freezing conditions. About 200 aftershocks hit the region, including a magnitude 6.0 quake late on October 23rd.
