SOURCE:Altegrity Risk International

A U.S. citizen who was kidnapped last week from his home in Port-au-Prince was released on August 30th after police surrounded his captor's hideout. A special police squad raided the home in a hillside shantytown south of Port-au-Prince where the victim was being held. The kidnappers detected police moving in and fled. The victim was unharmed and police have taken him into custody to ensure his safety. Kidnappers had demanded a US$300,000 ransom, but nothing was paid at the time of the rescue. The kidnappers posed as employees of a package delivery service.
