The head of Haiti's anti-kidnapping unit reported on August 29th that a U.S. national was kidnapped from his home in Port-au-Prince. The U.S. national was reportedly seized by men posing as employees of a package delivery service. The victim is married to the director of a prestigious private school for children of diplomats and wealthy Haitians. Authorities are reportedly working to secure the foreign national's release and have increased checkpoints throughout the capital city. It remains unclear if a ransom demand has been issued at this time.
