SOURCE:Altegrity Risk International

Japanese automobile manufacturers will produce cars on Saturday and Sunday and take Thursday and Friday off to avoid blackouts from a power crunch caused by nuclear power plant closures, the chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said on May 19th. The plan, which also covers auto-parts suppliers, is slated to be implemented in July, August, and September, peak months for electricity use in Japan. The Japanese government also asked major companies to reduce electricity use by 15%.
