April 25, 2011. Japanese car manufacturer output down in earthquake's aftermath

A prominent Japanese car maker said on April 25th that its Japanese production fell by 63% in March 2011 compared with March 2010 as shortages in critical parts continued to lead to production cuts, reports indicated. The March 11th earthquake and tsunami damaged the firm's critical parts manufacturing plants, with delays planned in Japan, Thailand, India, and six other Asian countries until at least June 2011. Another prominent Japanese car manufacturer said that the output of its plants in Japan slumped by 52% in March 2011 compared to March 2010.
