Commercial flight operations resumed at Sendai airport on April 13th for the first time since the busy airport was devastated by the March 11th tsunami, local media said. The opening is likely to boost transportation in northeastern Japan, where the tsunami devastated roads and railway lines. Teams of U.S. servicemen specialized in restoring damaged airports helped local officials revitalize the facility.
