Thousands evacuated their homes on Java on March 4th after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck 300km (186 miles) southwest of Cilacap, Java, local media said. Officials issued a tsunami alert and thousands poured out of their homes and offices to reach higher ground. Officials canceled the tsunami alert after no major waves materialized; Indonesian officials reported no significant damages or casualties.
