The Tokyo Electric Power company imposed further power outages on March 15th, affecting some five million Japanese households, including in parts of Tokyo, and announced plans for additional cuts on March 16th. The outages are scheduled to last three hours at a time, as Japan attempts to avoid place excessive pressure on a system harmed by the failure of a power plant and damages from the March 11th earthquake and tsunami.
