The U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong issued the following Warden Message on March 16, 2011:

In the last few days, our hearts have gone out to those struggling with the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Based on information from the Hong Kong Observatory, the current nuclear events in Fukushima, Japan are not likely to have any health impact on Hong Kong. We will continue to monitor the situation and are in contact with Hong Kong Government officials.

We would like to provide a number of websites that you can use to access reliable information regarding this situation. We urge you to ignore sources that are not authoritative. This Mission continues to monitor the situation in Japan, as we would any disaster recovery operation in the region. If we become aware of any important information affecting Hong Kong, we will share that information and guidance promptly.
