March 10, 2011. Magnitude 5.4 quake strikes near Sino-Myanmar border, at least seven killed

A magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale earthquake struck some 225km (140 miles) southwest of Yunnan province's Dali, near the border with Myanmar, on March 10th, killing at least seven people and injuring more than 120 others, Chinese state-controlled media said. The quake destroyed several homes and buried residents in the debris. Officials dispatched troops to the scene to assist in the rescue efforts.
