A gun battle broke out in Port-au-Prince between police and protesters before dawn on January 14th, leaving one protester dead. National Police say the clash began when 20 to 30 people set fire to tires and fired weapons on a main avenue on the outskirts of the city. The protests spread to three different neighborhoods later in the day. Protests are believed to have been triggered as a reaction to an investigation by the Organization of American States (OAS) into the results of the November 28th elections.
