The cholera epidemic that has caused more than 2,070 deaths was introduced by Nepalese troops serving with the UN peacekeeping force in the country, according to a French medical report on December 7th. The disease first appeared in Mirebalais, where the soldiers set up their camp, and it emerged just days after they arrived there. The UN mission has continued to deny that the disease was introduced by its forces.
