Protesters in Port-au-Prince clashed with police at a demonstration demanding the annulment of last week's president elections, according to reports on December 4th. Police fired tear gas and protesters threw stones during the demonstration outside of the country's damaged presidential palace. It was the second such protest organized by opposition politicians in several days. Results from the election are expected on December 7th, and additional unrest is likely as many claim the elections were marred by mismanagement and fraud. On December 3rd, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that the irregularities were more serious than initially thought.
