Frustrated presidential candidates led a march through Port-au-Prince on December 2nd to demand officials annul an election they say was tainted by fraud. At least four of 19 candidates walked with hundreds of supporters to an electoral council office, denouncing electoral officials, President Rene Preval, and the ruling Unity party's candidate, Jude Celestin. Witnesses reported that some protesters threw rocks at police, who fired warning shots. There were no reports of injuries.
A group of 10 presidential candidates are calling for the vote to be canceled, after accusations of stuffing election boxes, polls opening late, registered voters being turned away, and other irregularities were reported.
