Health officials in rural Haiti are investigating a possible disease outbreak that could be responsible for dozens of recent deaths and a surge of infections, according to UN workers on October 21st. The Haitian government says that at least 19 people have died after suffering from fever, vomiting, and severe diarrhea; dozens more deaths are suspected. A hospital in St. Marc has been overwhelmed with hundreds of patients all reporting the same symptoms. Health care workers are running tests for cholera, typhoid, and other diseases.
