September 10, 2010. No-go zones remain in New Zealand, earthquake damages estimated at US$2.7 billion

New Zealand delayed plans to lift no-go zones in quake-hit Christchurch after major aftershocks continued to strike the South Island, reports indicated on September 10th. The city has been under a state of emergency since the September 4th earthquake that cost some four billion New Zealand dollars (US$2.7 billion). Some 100,000 houses were damaged with 500 buildings demolished.
