August 10, 2010. Minor damages reported in Vanuatu after earthquake and tsunami

Residents of Vanuatu raced for high ground on August 10th after a magnitude 7.5 on the Richter scale earthquake struck some 40km (25 miles) northwest of Port Vila, sparking a 22cm (nine inches) wave, reports indicated. Officials reported no major damages or casualties from the earthquake or small tsunami, although some computers, shelves, and ceiling panels in buildings reportedly fell from the shock.
