Dozens of protesters burned tires and set fire to at least one car during anti-government protests in Port-au-Prince on July 13th. Protesters are calling for the ouster of President Rene Preval and called for former Haitian Presidents Jean-Claude Duvalier and Jean-Bertrand Aristide to be allowed to return from exile. No injuries were reported during protests, although many drivers abandoned the area after their vehicles were pelted by stones thrown by protesters. Police took up positions in front of the presidential palace, where demonstrators were calling for the electoral council organizing legislative and presidential elections scheduled for November 28th to resign.
