June 28, 2010. Presidential and legislative elections scheduled in Haiti

SOURCE:Altegrity Risk International

Haitian President Rene Preval issued two presidential decrees on June 26th, designating November 28th as the official date for presidential and legislative elections. Preval's five-year presidential term ends on February 7th, but the parliament has already voted to allow him to remain in office until May 14th if a successor is not chosen in time. Legislative elections were scheduled for early 2010, but delayed as the country was devastated by the January 2010 earthquake.
