April 5, 2010. Powerful quake hits northwestern Mexico

A powerful 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale earthquake rocked Mexico's Baja California state on April 4th, killing at least two people and injuring another 100. Authorities say the quake, which centered near Mexicali, could be felt as far away as Los Angeles, California. A state of emergency has been issued in Mexicali, where a government building and hospital were damaged and power and water services cut off. At least 20 smaller aftershocks were reported in Mexicali.
