At least 11 people were killed in floods triggered by heavy rains in Les Cayes on February 28th. Authorities say the city is swamped in 1.5m (5ft) of water and several buildings, including a hospital and a prison, were forced to evacuate. Several homes have reportedly collapsed in the rains, which come weeks ahead of an anticipated rainy season. Les Cayes was largely unaffected by the January 12th quake that centered outside Port-au-Prince.
