The UN warned on February 8th that it will cut off shipments of free medicine to hospitals that charge patients, after reportedly learning that some hospitals have been charging patients fees for drugs. Following the January 12th earthquake, authorities made all medical care free with the help of some 200 international medical relief groups. However, UN authorities say that at least a dozen hospitals, both public and private, have been found charging patients. There are currently some 90 hospitals, including public and private hospitals and field hospitals, operating in the country.
