Haitian Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive raised the death toll from the January 12th earthquake to 200,000 on February 3rd, during a presentation at the Senate. Bellerive warned that the toll could continue to rise as bodies are uncovered from rubble around the capital Port-au-Prince in coming weeks. Bellerive proposed the creation of an Executive Power of crisis and called for the tasks of ministers to be redefined in order to improve government response in the coming weeks.
