As search and rescue operations in and around Port-au-Prince were ceased, authorities shifted their priorities to cleaning up debris and assessing infrastructure damages on January 25th. Authorities say isolated cases of looting are continuing to be reported and are expected to continue as workers remove rubble and valuable items are revealed. Nonetheless, authorities say reports of crime have not increased. Police have doubled patrols in the Cite Soleil slum, near the airport. The slum is a concern for authorities, who say the escaped prisoners have returned to the once gang-ridden neighborhood.
