The death toll from devastating earthquakes in the western Chinese province of Gansu reached at least 94 on July 23rd, with rescue workers struggling to find survivors, Chinese state-controlled and foreign media said. The earthquake struck on the morning of July 23rd, with most of the casualties recorded thus far in Dingxi city. More than 800 people were injured. Officials deployed two helicopters and some 3,000 soldiers, rescue personnel, and police. More than 9,000 homes collapsed in the disaster.
