April 22, 2013. Government Warning Issued for China

The United States Consulate General in Chengdu alerts U.S. citizens that on the morning of April 20, 2013 there was an earthquake located approximately 115 km southwest of Chengdu near the city of Ya'an. Smaller aftershocks have been felt since the initial earthquake. Landslides have been reported in the area near the epicenter of the earthquake. The Consulate General recommends that U.S. citizens avoid damaged buildings and stay away from the earthquake zone if possible. Aftershocks associated with the earthquake may continue for some time.
