At least 37 people were reportedly killed when an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the southern town of Kaki, US news sources reported on April 10th. The initial death toll was expected to rise, as over 850 people were injured in the quake. The town of Kaki lies 100km (60 miles) southeast of the Bushehr nuclear reactor; however, Iranian authorities said that the quake did not damage the Bushehr plant.
