Working with national and international public health authorities, HTH Worldwide is monitoring the H1N1 influenza situation closely and maintains constant contact with HTH participating physicians and medical facilities across the globe. If HTH members have concerns or symptoms while traveling or living abroad and need assistance coordinating healthcare, please use these tools or contact us:
HTH will monitor medical facilities in locations the WHO classifies as having a significant number of H1N1 infections. HTH will identify treatment facilities in these areas that have demonstrated the following:
Access to rapid H1N1 testing
Appropriate use of and access to antiviral medication
Staff and equipment to manage serious infections (e.g. respirators, equipment to monitor vitals, etc.)
Ability to obtain and administer the H1N1 vaccine
Coverage
Any person insured by HTH can expect full support and payment for medical care rendered (within policy limits) for persons infected with H1N1 influenza.
Medical evacuations will be coordinated and paid for provided they are medically necessary. HTH will not evacuate those infected with the H1N1 virus unless local care is not appropriate, and in the opinion of HTH's Medical Director, remaining on location could lead to serious medical consequences.
HTH does not cover accommodations for those who are not ill and are quarantined in a hotel, hospital, or other facility for the purpose of preventing the spread of the H1N1 virus.
